Sri Aurobindo

Pioneer of Evolutionary Spirituality

Sri Aurobindo

For those who are seekers of a higher purpose of life on earth and following their inner call, the vision and work of Sri Aurobindo offers a compelling journey into the realm of spiritual evolution unfolding on earth.

Sri Aurobindo, a renowned modern Rishi, a revolutionary yogi, poet, psychologist, pioneer of India’s freedom movement and spiritual philosopher of the 20th century foresaw an evolutionary crisis on Earth way back in 1910. Since then he envisioned and pioneered an evolutionary future where human beings could transcend their limitations and embody divine consciousness. His teachings emphasize the integral development of the individual and the society, a life-affirming spirituality, harmonising the spiritual, and material dimensions of existence.

A Short Film

This 26 minute film tells the story of the early life and spiritual journey of Sri Aurobindo. It is made for the youth of India and the world, as an offering for the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo.

Please watch it on a big screen. Plug in your best stereo speakers or earphone, for an immersive, meditative experience! This is not a regular bio-pic or a documentary film. It is a creative visualisation of the life of a visionary, a yogi, a rishi who is infinitely diverse in his work and expressions, but whose life was not on the surface for people to see. The essence of such a life has been captured through a kind of visual poetry in this film. Less information, more cinematic feel, symbolism, poetry, mystic sense—these are the catch words!

Complete Works of Sri Aurobindo

A Whole New Vision of the Future of Earth

In 1997, the Sri Aurobindo Ashram began to publish the Complete Works of Sri Aurobindo in a uniform library edition of 37 volumes. All the 36 text volumes have been issued. The remaining reference volume, with an index and glossary, is being prepared. The Complete Works contains all the writings published earlier in the 30-volume Sri Aurobindo Birth Centenary Library, as well as around 4000 pages of new texts.
